An Automated Analysis of Ping-Pong Interactions in E-mail Services

Feature interactions occur when the composition of two processes produces unexpected or unwanted behaviors. The problem of detecting interactions can be formalized, but the resolution of such interactions remains almost an art since speciications must be changed in a way or another. In this paper, we describe a technique that can be used to automatically propose modiications to the original speciications in order to remove unwanted interactions. We show that this technique removes sucessfully ping-pong interactions in E-mail services where messages are endlessy duplicated by a careless user or a distribution list.
